DEFINITION : Hyperemesis gravidarum is a term used to describe excessive vomiting in pregnancy. It is an excessive nausea and vomiting in pregnancy which start between 4 and 10 weeks gestation, and resolve before 20 th week and requires intervention. It is a pathological form of vomiting which results in the deterioration in the mother’s health. It normally occurs during the early part of pregnancy but can extend throughout pregnancy.
