Clubfoot is a congenital defect which is medically known as congenital Talipes Equinovarus. It has the name Clubfoot because the foot assumes a club like shape. In this case, the entire foot is inverted, the heel is drawn up and the forefoot is abducted. The foot resists alignment and the calf muscle and foot may be slightly smaller than normal. Clubfoot involves bone deformity and malposition with soft tissue contracture. The defect can be mild or severe and it can involve one foot or both. There are also a number of other milder deformities that may be twisted inwards. If both feet are clubbed the soles of the feet may face each other. The foot bones, ankle, joints and muscles and ligaments of the foot may be abnormal.
