  • Brittle Bone Disease
  • Ekman-Lobstein Disease
  • Lobstein Disease (Type I)
  • Vrolik Disease (Type II)

Definition

  • It’s a genetic disorder characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause.
  • It is a congenital anomaly. 
  • OI varies in severity from person to person, ranging from a mild type to a severe type that causes death before or shortly after birth.
  • People with OI also have teeth problems (dentinogenesis imperfecta), 
  • Hearing loss when they are adults.
